Rebellious Truth

Copper blinked, "What? If I didn't use it then we would have died. What else was I suppose to do? Besides, I only use it if needed...as a last resort." He said before moving some of her hair out of her face, "Sorry, I thought it might be tickling your nose."

"Yay! Boru is a chick magnet still! Eren should use Boru to get a date with Lita~" Jack coughed uncomfortably, he really wished Boru would stop reading their feelings. "Hey Boru, its time to go to sleep." Jack said, gently taking the brown dragon and setting him near the fire.

Fleur nodded slightly, her cheeks a hint of pink but she pouted putting on her annoyed face that she usually made when Copper made her blush. She was still hoping that he wouldn't bring up the kiss, especially when she wasn't allowed to talk.

Eren felt his face burn but also thought about the possibility. Lita just laughed, "What a silly dragon."

Copper chuckled, "We need to get some sleep. Akuma and Seino are keeping watch so we should be safe." Copper said in the same softened tone, "Get well ok?"

Jack chuckled at the two, "My my, what a red face you have~" He teased Eren before getting back up and stretching, "We are heading to the Shadowlands since its the closest kingdom."

Fleur nodded, she was surprised by the soft tone in his voice. She wasn't used to him sounding so kind, it was almost more surprising than when he was mad

Eren glared at Jack and rolled his eyes. "Let's go to bed Lita-chan." he said softly as he looked down at the fairy woman that was still in his hands.

"And as soon as you are better, Imma gonna be able ta tease you again~" He said before going to his sleeping spot and laying down, closing his eyes and going to sleep.

"No sex now." Jack said, picking up the sleeping dragon to lay him on his chest. Jack looked up to the blood red moon, sighing to see no stars.

Fleur glared at him for a moment before rolling over and attempting to fall asleep. At this rate she didn't want to get better. She could live without his teasing.

Eren looked like he was about to maul Jack but Lita laughed. "Just ignore him Eren, let's go to sleep."

Jack and Copper sang as both men looked into the skies, missing home slightly. Off in the distance, you could hear Akuma and Seino singing the same words. It was an old war song that people sang to remember the fight between the Spirits and to remember the creation of the three realms.


Boru started to look up at the skies too, Jack's eyes almost desperately searched for the answers he needed to help his family and friends...but none was there. Copper looked in sadness at the painful memories and having to watch his friends die.

Fleur hadn't fallen asleep, she was too anxious but hearing the song made her heart ache. They all sounded so sad. But she didn't say anything, she just stayed silent.

Being a Guardian was more then having an elemental power and fighting, it was about putting people before yourself and giving your life to see them safe. Guardians put up with the hate people put on them because its their duty to save them from the darkness and from themselves, they fought until they died. Sometimes, it is a burden that weights heavily on their shoulders and makes it feel like they are being dragged through the mud. In the end, they are left with nothing but that duty. No honor, no respect, only duty. Jack wondered why if that was why Baina fought so hard for them, so that they too could have a little peace.

Fleur wondered why they sounded so sad, that was the last thing on her mind before she fell asleep.

Copper soon fell asleep before Jack fell asleep too. The fire crackled and snapped, Seino and Akuma watched the shadows of the forest closely.

The next morning Fleur woke up quickly, she sat up and yawned she was still tired and in pain but it was time to get up. She looked around to see if anyone else had woken up.

Everyone else was still asleep except for Jack who was cooking breakfast. Seino and Akuma were also there, asleep. Asatine snored loudly.

Fleur stood on shaky legs and made her way over to him. She sat back down and gave a slight wave.

Jack looked over to Fleur and smiled, "Good morning, sleeping beauty. Dreamed about your prince?" He said before chuckling, "I found this animal that looked like a chicken...smells like it too so I am cooking it." He pointed to the roasting bird but the flames were very odd. Instead of being orangey-red, they were pure white with a tint of yellow.

Fleur rolled her eyes at his words, the meat didn't appear to be dangerous and there were many animals that you could eat in the forests so Fleur went with it. She sighed, it sucked not being able to talk.

"You know sign language?" Jack asked, repeating the question in sign language, "Its useful in situations like these, every commanding officer is required to know it...so your dad would know it." Jack said, poking at the meat but burnt his finger, he hissed a curse as he stuck his finger in his mouth.

Fleur shook her head, her father may know sign language but that doesn't mean he had taught her any. She sighed and flopped onto her back.

"Well not to worry, by the time we get back you will be talking again though it might sound a bit scratchy for a few days." Jack said before looking to Fleur, "So...what kind of elements do you have? Curious is all, nothing more. I have Light and Shadows."

Since she couldn't say what she had she just summoned them, in her left hand was a ball of ice and in her right was a small shadow. The two vanished after she let Jack see them, she wondered why he was so curious.

"A friend of mine also can control ice." Jack stated, smiling at Fleur, "He also controls energy." Jack stood up and went to his pack, he pulled out something and sat next to Fleur again. There was a man with white hair and sky blue eyes, there was also a woman with pale blonde hair and pale blue eyes and another with thick dark red hair and the same shade of vibrant green as Jack. Jack stood between the white haired man and the red haired woman. "That's Alex, beside him is Alice." Jack explained, pointing to the blonde before pointing to the redhead, "And that's my cousin Scarlet."

Fleur looked at the picture, the people seemed so nice well for humans. She gave a nod and smiled. She wondered if she could ever meet Alex, and if she did if he would be able to teach her some things. It would be nice to have a teacher instead of having to teacher herself.

"You know how to your elements well?" Jack asked as he leaned back, putting his arms behind him to brace himself against the ground as he looked at Fleur with his vibrant eyes for her answer.

Fleur shrugged, she felt she was alright but there was only so much one can do without a teacher. She knew she was better with her ice than with her shadows.

Jack took her hand and pulled her fingers so they pointed and touched the middle of her palm, "Concentrate your energy into the center of your hand, start out small and then slowly increase it." Jack held out his hand in the same position and created a small shadow ball, "This position allows for a much easier time starting the energy but if you open your fingers, the energy is more powerful but harder to hold."
