Omen...

Rika squirmed and wiggled out of Eve's embrace, as much as she didn't want to, but felt this was important. She took off the one thing that had always been over looked on her, a small golden ring that she wore around her neck. It had a zig-zag pattern all around the band with a dot inside each triangle. It was just small and fine work that it must have taken a very steady hand to make it so neatly and perfectly done. Rika held it out to Eve.

Eve was a little confused when Rika pulled away from her but she was even more confused when the girl held a necklace out to her. Eve blinked and stared at it, a bit confused. "What's this?" she questioned, curiously.

"Its a ring." Rika answered happily but so simply, like it was the most obvious thing in the world, "Its my Omen mark. Something that appears when we change. We have an honored tradition that the ones who become family to us bear the mark. Sort of like protecting us in a way."

"Oh?" She questioned. "Are you.....giving this to me?" she asked, Truthfully Eve was shocked, but also honored. It made her feel happy though.

Rika nodded happily, holding it up a little more. The fire from the torch light danced off the golden ring, giving off a mysterious look to it, an almost powerful look.

Eve practically beamed as she gently took the necklace from Rika and clasped it around her own neck. "It's an honor to know that you trust me Rika." she said pulling the girl into a hug.

Rika giggled and hugged Eve back, the ring seeming to become warmer the happier she got. The ring reacted to Rika's emotions, weather or not she was wearing it, "Can I sleep in your bed?"

Eve felt the warmth coming from the ring and it surprised her but she didn't make her surprise noticable. "Of course sweetie." Eve said brightly. "Come on, we better get to sleep. Rest will help you get better."

Rika climbed into the bed and snuggled in the fluffy white sheets, they smelled very nice, like the outdoors. It was slightly rainy outside and you could hear the distant sounds of thunder rolling along.

Eve smiled softly and layed down next to the smaller girl. "Good Night Rika." she said softly, kissing Rika's head softly before she closed her eyes and tired to sleep once more.
